Demi Lovato Reflects On Her Time Playing Naya Rivera's 'Glee' Girlfriend

Much like the rest of Hollywood, Demi Lovato paid tribute to the late Naya Rivera after the Glee alum's body was found by authorities during their week-long hunt for the actress.

On Monday (July 13), the pop star, 27, took to Instagram to share photos of her time on set of the FOX series. "RIP Naya Rivera. I’ll forever cherish the opportunity to play your girlfriend on Glee," she captioned the post, which kicked off with a glamorous solo shot of Rivera. "The character you played was groundbreaking for tons of closeted queer girls (like me at the time) and open queer girls, and your ambition and accomplishments were inspiring to Latina women all over the world. My heart goes out to your loved ones at this time."

In case you don't remember, Lovato was a recurring guest star on the fifth season of the series, where she played Dani, a schoolmate with a short-lived romance with Rivera's Santana Lopez.

While she was previously presumed dead, Rivera's body was discovered on Monday after a five-day search. After her disappearance from the boat ride with 4-year-old son, Josey, in Lake Piru, her family, as well as some Glee co-stars, took to the body of water to help with the search. According to a recent news conference, authorities revealed that Josey told them Rivera helped boost him onto the deck of the boat after a swim, but then disappeared under the surface of the water. The actress was 33.
