Karol G Is Recovering From 'Difficult, Painful' Battle With COVID-19

Karol G has tested positive for COVID-19.

On Monday (July 13), the Latin superstar, 29, took to Instagram Live to confirm the news that she tested positive some weeks ago, but had not gone public with the news to keep her parents’ worry at bay. "First of all, thank you to all the people that have reached out to me. I hadn't said anything because my parents are far away and I didn't want them to worry about me," she told fans in Spanish. "Because my new single [Ay DiOs Mío] was coming out, I didn't want coronavirus to be the news. Now that the news is out, my parents are very nervous and if it was under any other circumstance, they'd be here by my side."

Thankfully, Karol G said that she is feeling well in comparison to others who have tested positive. After receiving the diagnosis, alongside her friend and sister, the singer isolated herself from fiancé Anuel, who tested negative for the respiratory virus. "Thank you to everyone who has reached out," she continued. "I did have COVID-19 and it was very difficult, [and] painful, but I'm recuperating."

"Thank you for the sweet messages and for everyone that has worried about me," she continued. "All I can [say] is, please take care of yourself. COVID-19 is real. I didn't want to make this news public ... but I'm doing well."
