Longtime FOX News anchor Neil Cavuto is leaving the cable network after 28 years, network representatives confirmed to the New York Post on Thursday (December 19).

Cavuto, 66, reportedly declined a contract offer and is scheduled to announce his departure during Thursday's episode of Your World with Neil Cavuto. The veteran anchor's contract is set to expire at the end of the month.

Cavuto was reportedly given a "generous" renewal offer, a source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to the New York Post.

“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with FOX News Media,” FOX News said in a statement to the New York Post. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”

Cavuto's reasoning for his departure has not been publicly confirmed, however, he has dealt with health scares in the past. The anchor previously went on a five-week-long leave after suffering from a severe bout of COVID-19 in 2022, which landed him in the intensive care unit.

Cavuto joined FOX News in July 1996, ahead of the network's first broadcast in October of that same year, as the host of Your World and also hosts Cavuto Coast to Coast. Both shows will reportedly use rotating anchors until FOX News names permanent replacement programming in 2025, a source confirmed to the New York Post.
