Pair of 'Dogs earn Big 12 honors

Bailey Alexander and Cecily Hayes earn Big 12 Rider of the Month honors.

IRVING, Texas - Fresno State earned a pair of Big 12 Riders of the Month, as the conference announced its November honorees on Tuesday. Senior Cecily Hayes was named the Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month while junior Bailey Alexander earned the honor in the reining.

The two recognitions are the first for the Bulldogs by the Big 12 this season.

Hayes earns her first monthly honor of the season, and first Big 12 Flat Rider of the Month since earning the honor in February 2020. The senior from Brentwood, Calif. finished the month with a 3-1 mark in the event, while winning two MOP honors. Hayes defeated three ranked opponents, including one on the road. Her MOP honors came in back-to-back days against No. 1 Oklahoma State (Nov. 5) and No. 7 SMU (Nov. 6). She averaged an 82.375 for the month of November.

Alexander, who was also named the NCEA Reining Rider of the Month, was 3-0-1 in her rides throughout the month, averaging a 72.25 in her reining rides in that time. The junior opened the month with a 70-70 tie against No. 1 Oklahoma State. She followed up the next day with a MOP honor and 73-71.5 win against No. 7 SMU. Alexander had back-to-back road wins against SMU and Baylor to close out the month. She did not score lower than a 73 while on the road.

The junior from Redding, Calif. earned her third career Big 12 Reining Rider of the Month honor.

This is the second time Fresno State has earned several riders of the month, in a single month, while in the Big 12.
