FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State senior Cierra Jackson captured wins in both the hammer throw and shot put, highlighting day one of the Fresno State Invitational at Warmerdam Field on Friday.
In the hammer, Jackson launched for a 64.38m/211-2 mark on her third attempt for the top result. It is the second farthest throw of her career.
The senior dominated in the shot put, throwing for a 17.18m/56-4 mark and her farthest throw in the event since the 2024 Mountain West Outdoor Championships. This mark moves her to #17 in the NCAA. This is Jackson's first time over 17 meters this season and just under her personal best of 17.39m.
Emma Harper threw for a personal best and took third in the hammer with a throw of 58.40m/191-7 while Maria Lawson took fifth with a throw of 54.88m/180-0. On the men's side, Isaiah Calvin took fifth with a personal best mark of 55.19/181-1 and Jose Zarco-Sanchez took eighth with a throw of 48.60m/159-5.
Colleen Uzoekwe took third in the shot put with a mark of 13.45m/44-1.
The meet will continue tomorrow beginning at 10 a.m. PT at Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis. Fresno State will celebrate its senior class at noon. The schedule and meet program can be found here.
