FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team clinched a spot in the 2025 Mountain West Championship with a 10-0 shutout win over San Jose State at home on Saturday.
The reigning MW Champions are 25-25 overall and 16-10 in conference games.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Justin Stransky drove the Bulldogs to an early lead with a single to third base that advanced Eddie Saldivar to third. Saldivar extended the play and reached home after a throwing error by the Spartan third baseman.
Saldivar started the top of the third with a double down the left field line and found himself back on third, advancing on a wild pitch. Stransky blasted his fifth home run in three games to left field, elevating the Bulldog lead to three.
Cayden Munster returned to the Bulldog lineup and contributed a lead-off double in the top of the fourth. Sky Collins drove him home with an RBI groundout to second base.
Fresno State sealed the deal with a big six-run sixth. Lee Trevino launched his first career home run over the Fresno State bullpen in left field. Griffen Sotomayor drove in another run with a triple hit to straight-away center and scored with a sacrifice fly from Saldivar. Murf Gray locked in the Bulldogs' win by roping his 13th home run to Cedar Avenue.
With a 10-run lead, the Diamond 'Dogs secured their victory over the Spartans due to the conference mercy rule.
