FRESNO, Calif. – The Fresno State baseball team wrapped up the home season with a 10-0 win over Pacific in seven innings.
The win evens the Bulldogs' overall record at 26-26, and they remain 16-11 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After starting pitcher Jared Galang retired the Tigers' batters in order in the top of the first, Murf Gray launched his team-leading fourteenth home run of the season to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead heading into the second.
Following a scoreless second, the Bulldogs went back to work in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on first and second, the 'Dogs extended their lead thanks to Jett Ruby's first career home run, a three-run shot to right field to push the Bulldogs' lead to 4-0.
The bottom of the fifth saw the Bulldogs plate three more runs. Ruby collected his fourth RBI of the evening with a double to left center to knock in Griffin Sotomayor from second. With Ruby aboard second, Murf Gray clubbed a 1-2 pitch for his second home run of the game to left field, building the 'Dogs lead to 7-0.
After Sky Collins reached on a fielder's choice and stole second, Sotomayor collected his second hit of the night, a double to right center to make it an 8-0 lead for the 'Dogs. Ruby followed with a single to score Sotomayor to put the Bulldogs up 9-0 at the end of the sixth inning.
The Bulldogs would add another run in the seventh to bring their final home game of the season to an end via the mercy rule, defeating Pacific 10-0.
NOTES
Jett Ruby hit his first career home run and doubled his career RBI count with five on the night.
Murf Gray had his second multiple-home run game of the season.
Vance Haskins collected his first career win on the mound, striking out four of 10 batters faced.
Pacific was not able to score a single run against the Bulldogs.
