FRESNO, Calif. - Fresno State women's basketball head coach Ryan McCarthy announced the newest addition to the 2025-26 roster in Djessira Diawara (JESS-SEAR-AH, DIA-WARA) on Thursday afternoon.
Diawara comes to the Valley in her final year of eligibility from fellow Mountain West opponent, San Jose State.
The 6-foot-3 forward played a single season with the Spartans marking 27 starts in 32 games. Diawara ranked 10th in the MW in rebounds totaling 195 (6.1 avg) on the season and 15th during conference play 5.5 avg. With the Spartans, Diawara marked 14 double-figure games and a season-high 22 points.
Prior to San Jose State, Diawara spent a season at the University of Houston, making an appearance in 27 games, grabbing 12 starts. Before Houston, she spent a season at Clarendon College where she was named 2023 NJCAA All-American Third Team selection and was named All-Texas First Team by Dave Campbell's Texas Basketball publication for its non-DI women's basketball awards.
Diawara, a native of Bamako, Mali. is the fifth portal addition for the 'Dogs this offseason, joining Jaisa Gamble (UAA), Indiya Clarke (Wofford), Hedda Koehne (UAA) and Ashlyn Rean (UAA).
