LOS ANGELES – The Fresno State baseball team is gearing up for its second-straight NCAA Tournament appearance after claiming the 2025 Mountain West title last week in a clean three-game sweep.
The Diamond 'Dogs open the Los Angeles Regional against UCLA on Friday, May 30, at 1:05 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Stadium.
FULFILLING THE PROFECY
The Fresno State Bulldogs claimed their second-straight Mountain West title after winning the conference tournament in a clean sweep on Saturday.
The Diamond 'Dogs were selected to finish first in the 2025 MW Preseason Coaches' Poll and made that prediction a reality by winning the tournament title after losing their grasp on the regular-season championship.
Fresno State has now won three conference titles in the MW: 2019, 2024 and 2025.
Murf Gray was named MVP of the tournament and became the first Diamond 'Dog to earn the honor twice.
Gray was joined on the MW All-Tournament team by Bryce Armstrong, Lee Trevino and Sky Collins.
FOUR IS MORE
Fresno State is at the bottom of the pack in the Los Angeles Regional after being named the four seed in the double-elimination tournament.
The Bulldogs are no strangers to the four spot. In 2008, the Bulldogs entered the Long Beach Regional as the four seed and went on to claim the program's only national title under former head coach Mike Batesole.
That year, Fresno State became the lowest-seeded team to win the national championship.
Current head coach Ryan Overland was a catcher on that Underdogs-to-Wonderdogs team and is leading the 'Dogs on a similar path in their second NCAA tournament appearance since he has been at the helm of the program.
A MOMENT FOR THE MOUND
Fresno State is one of only two NCAA Division I programs in the country to boast two starting pitchers with over 100 strikeouts.
Jack Anker reached that mark in his final outing of the regular season, hitting exactly 100 strikeouts before going into the postseason.
Aidan Cremarosa, MW Pitcher of the Year, trailed closely behind Anker and punched out his 100th batter during the MW Championship.
Anker currently has 107 on the season, and Cremarosa has 105 total for the year.
KING OF THE CONFERENCE
Central Valley native Murf Gray has earned the Mountain West's top honors fou times in his three-season career with the Bulldogs.
The junior has been named MW Tournament MVP twice (2024 & 2025), MW Freshman of the Year (2023), and most recently, Tony Gwynn Player of the Year (2025).
As the starting third baseman for the squad for three seasons, he has accumulated a .308 average with over 200 hits and 36 home runs.
