Bulldogs welcome Mustangs for home opener

FRESNO, Calif.- After securing a draw in their season opener at UC Davis, Fresno State will square off against Cal Poly in their home opener on Thursday at 7p.m. PT at Bulldog Soccer Stadium.

The Bulldogs homestand will continue Thursday, Aug. 28 vs. UC Santa Barbara before they embark on a season-long four game road trip

LATE GAME HEROICS

Trailing 1-0 early in the second half, Fresno State produced multiple scoring chances before their persistence in the offensive zone paid off. With just over seven minutes remaining, senior Alexis Campbell notched the tying goal in the 83' minute after redirecting a shot by Ciara Wilson, helping the 'Dogs secure a point with a draw against UC Davis.

FRESHMAN IMPACT

During the offseason, head coach Brian Zwaschka injected some youth into the Fresno State women's soccer program with the addition of Valley native Abigail Herren. The reigning Fresno Bee Girls Soccer Player of the Year demonstrated the threat she posed offensively against UC Davis, which included a strike off a crosser that nearly brought the 'Dogs even against the Aggies in the second half.

Herren registered 40 minutes on the pitch in her collegiate debut while recording four shots and two shots on goal

Fresno State returns 21 players from last season's roster

Five newcomers joined the program for this season

Fresno State added two Valley natives in Abigail Herren and Addison Sanchez this offseason, both freshmen

The Bulldogs welcomed three transfers to the program in Payton Hoover (San Jose State), Lauren Machuca (NM State), and Mason Morton (Saddleback College)

Fresno State's roster includes five international players: Alexis Campbell (Newmarket, Ontario, Canada), Laura Mas Serra (Barcelona, Spain), Klara Chapeyrout (Paris, France), Sam Paepen (Tessenderio, Belgium), & Shivani Battaglia (Perth, Australia)
