FRESNO, Calif. – Fresno State battled through four tightly contested sets on Thursday night but came up short against Air Force, 3-1 (20-25, 19-25, 25-21, 22-25), inside the Save Mart Center.
HOW IT HAPPENED
After falling behind two sets, the Bulldogs found their rhythm in the third. Behind five kills from Legault and steady setting from Lombardi, Fresno State hit .351 as a team and closed out the set on a 6-2 run to force a fourth.
The final frame saw 10 ties and three lead changes as Fresno State fought to extend the match. Washington and Haluska combined for seven kills in the set, but Air Force capitalized late to seal the win.
As a team, Fresno State recorded 55 kills, 85 digs, and 11 blocks while hitting .220 on the night.
NOTES
The Bulldogs were led offensively by Jenna Legault and Addison Haluska, who each tallied 20 and 19 kills, respectively.
Gabby Lombardi directed the attack with 36 assists while adding 21 digs for her sixth double-double of the season.
Brooklyn Washington posted an efficient .538 hitting percentage with eight kills and six blocks, while Clara Garcia anchored the defense with a team-high 25 digs.
