SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Fresno State Cross Country team is headed to the NCAA West Regional, hosted by Sacramento State at Higgin Oak Golf Course.
DOGS ON THE COURSE
The Bulldogs will have nine athletes on the course tomorrow: seven women and two men.
Chiara Pedol, Rhiannon Walker, Morgan Hutchison, Khushleen Khakh, Kylie Ward and Nayla Martin will be running the 6k.
Noah Graffigna and Emilio Nunez will enter the 10k.
This will be Noah and Emilio's first time at the NCAA West Regional.
SENIOR SEASON
Morgan Hutchison will be competing in her final cross country event as a Bulldog.
WHAT'S ON THE LINE?
There are 39 women's teams and 31 men's teams entered into the West Regional.
The top two teams in each of the nine regionals secure automatic bids to the championship.
The first four regional finishers not from an automatic qualifying or at-large team also secure an automatic bid to the championships.
If a team doesn't secure an automatic bid, it will have to rely on the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee to select it as one of the 13 at-large teams.
Only two individual at-larges are selected.
DRAKES TAKES
"We have some solid older athletes competing on the women's side. Experience is critical in big meets, and it feels great to finally have some experienced athletes to lead us.
"We were a little disappointed last week at the Mountain West Championships, so excited to have one more chance at achieving our season goals."
